About the Photographer: Ana Catarina Teles
I was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
It was in 2013 that I would discover something in photography that would really give me shivers. In committing to photography, I traded the stability of a peaceful life for new possibilities, different cultures, breath-taking landscapes and a collection of stories that would take my breath away!
Water photography was the passport to my freedom. It allowed me to create images that combined my feelings and thoughts. "When I’m out in the ocean I not only feel a connection, I feel like I’m a part of it: adapting myself to the waves, the ebb and flow, feeling each wipeout, the water flowing across my body. I feel like I’m alive.”
I see photography as the pinnacle of personal development, as well as a way to share my personal experiences. Always seeking new horizons, photography is my main dedication currently, full time.
I'm committed to bringing a positive message through photography and living photography as an opportunity of self knowledge and to meet people, especially connecting to women. I regularly lead workshops and I've just started a project called La Mer Co., which guides other women to shoot in the water and dedicate themselves to it. It is my life purpose, for sure.
